What is the Gift Aid scheme?
The Magistrates' Association is a registered charity. This means any member who pays UK income
tax can greatly help the Association by making a Gift Aid declaration. This allows the Association to claim for itself
(at no cost to the member) the basic rate tax paid on the members subscription, this amounts to £9.17 per annum.
Gift aiding boosts the value of your subscription to the Association by approximately 28%.
You can benefit too: If you pay the higher rate of tax you can claim tax relief on the difference between the higher and basic rate by entering the donation in the Gift Aid box on your self assessment tax return, currently £8.13.
Members who do not pay income tax cannot execute a Gift Aid declaration, if you have previously signed a Gift Aid declaration but now no longer pay UK income tax please contact the membership department on 020 7388 5558.
The Gift Aid scheme is very beneficial to the Association, over £130,000 or approximately 13% of the Association’s total annual income comes from tax refunds under the Gift Aid scheme.
If you have not signed a Gift Aid form please download a form here and send it to:
Membership department, 28 Fitzroy Square, London W1T 6DD. If you are not sure whether you signed a gift aid declaration when you joined the Association please contact the membership department on 020 7388 5558.
