Strategy for the magistracy published New strategy developed for 2019-22 20 December 2019 A new Strategy for the Magistracy for 2019-22 has been published on the judicial intranet today. It sets out six strategic themes – communication, organisation, profile, recruitment, training and competence, and the judicial development pathway – and a series of objectives to be met under each theme. The strategy’s development was led by the Magistrates’ Leadership Executive and a video has been made to introduce it with Duncan Webster, the National Leadership Magistrate and Chair of the Magistrates’ Leadership Executive, and the Lord Chief Justice. Commenting on the strategy, John Bache, the National Chair of the Magistrates Association, said: ‘We welcome the publication of a strategy for the magistracy, and in particular its focus on recruitment, training and support for magistrates. As with any strategy, the key will be effective implementation and we look forward to working with the senior judiciary, HM Courts and Tribunals Service and the Magistrates' Leadership Executive to ensure that this strategy makes a real, positive difference to magistrates across England and Wales.’ Previous Article The TRUNK December 2019 Next Article New Year’s Honours for magistrates Print Tags: Role of the magistracy Magistrates' Leadership Executive Criminal Justice System Magistracy Please login or register to post comments.
