MA celebrates International Women’s Day 2022

Helping to #BreakTheBias

This year, the MA will be celebrating International Women's Day by delivering a workshop at Cultivating Black Women for Social Change event. Run by Black women, for Black women, the event aims to #BreakTheBias by sharing the stories of inspirational Black women who have overcome personal challenges and obstacles to success, and empowering participants to become local change-makers through practical workshops.

MA calls for changes to reduce impact of crown court backlogs on cases involving violence against women and girls

MA national chair calls for implementation of changes to magistrates' jurisdiction, to ease the burden on crown courts

The MA national chair, Bev Higgs, has written to The Guardian newspaper calling for magistrates' jursidiction to be increased to a 12-month custodial sentence for a single offence to help reduce the backlog of cases in the crown courts and thus speed up the process of justice.
