We host a variety of events which give our members the opportunity to meet and network with their peers

MA Awards, Conference and AGM

This annual event takes place in a different county every year, allowing branches across the country to showcase their areas.

The conference features influential figures from government, industry and the third sector, who speak about issues relevant to the magistracy and provide workshops to aid our members’ development. The theme of the 2019 conference, held in Stratford-upon-Avon, was ‘The Changing Face of the Magistracy’ and featured speakers including Sir Andrew McFarlane, President of the Family Division, Lady Justice Macur, Senior Presiding Judge and Susan Acland-Hood, Chief Executive of HM Courts & Tribunals Service.

Our evening awards ceremony and dinner provide an opportunity for our members to celebrate their successes and the work they do in their local community. The 2019 awards saw the introduction of a new category, the ‘Inclusion and Social Value’ Award.

Royal Garden Parties

Every summer, The Queen hosts three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace, accompanied by other Members of the Royal Family. We are privileged to receive 120 invitations a year to these invitation-only events and members may be selected by their branch to attend.

These events are unique, exciting and give our members the chance to celebrate with a broad range of people from all walks of life, all of whom have made a positive impact in their community.  Guests include Lord-Lieutenants, other societies and associations, government departments, the armed forces and emergency services.

On the day of the party, we arrange a reception at our Head Office, so attendees can begin their day with some prosecco and commemorate the day with a photo before they set off.

Retired Members Events

We host regular events for our retired members, nationally and regionally. These feature networking and talks from engaging speakers, giving them the opportunity to keep abreast of developments, socialise with former colleagues and make new contacts.
