The MA holds events which members are entitled to attend; they range from local branch events and training, plus events for retired magistrates, through to the Annual MA Conference

MA Annual Conference

The MA holds an Annual Conference (incorporating the Annual General Meeting), usually in October/November. The venue alternates, generally with two out of three years being held in London and the third year in another of the major cities in England and Wales.

At the meeting the statutory motions include:

  • the election of auditors for the ensuing year
  • the financial statements and auditor’s report for the latest recent financial year
  • the annual report of the Board of Trustees for the latest financial year

The meeting may be addressed by the Association’s President, the Lord Chief Justice; Chairman and Honorary Treasurer; and by other distinguished guests.

Various officers of the MA are elected and motions debated to establish policy on topical subjects.

One or more presentations may be made in order to enhance the understanding of members on areas of current interest.
