Children and Social Work Bill

Following the publication of the MA statement on clause 2 of the Children and Social Work Bill, the Guardian ran an article on the MA’s specific concerns about the provision, which allows local authorities to apply for exemptions from children’s social care legislation. The MA’s response was also featured in Children and Young People Now.

The Public Bill Committee stage saw MPs vote 10 - 5 to reinstate the clause, despite opposition from Labour and Shadow Children’s Minister Emma Lewell-Buck MP.
