Practicalities of being a magistrate

Our members have elected three trustees out of a field of five candidates. Read on to find out more about who was elected.

Three members have been elected to sit on our board of trustees, following this summer’s elections.

The successful candidates, in a process independently overseen by Civica, are:

  • Ben Paolozzi (North and West Yorkshire Branch)
  • David Wall (Humber and South Yorkshire Branch)
  • Sarah Butters (North and West Yorkshire Branch)

Whilst David Wall joins the board for the first time, Ben Paolozzi and Sarah Butters will begin their second terms, having both joined the board in 2023. Each of them will serve a three-year term.

The board of trustees plays a vital role in steering the MA’s direction, overseeing how we work and spend, setting our strategy, and making sure we stay true to our mission as the only national charity supporting magistrates in England and Wales.

Ben, David, and Sarah will begin their new terms after this year’s AGM on Saturday 21 November.
