The MA election results are now in. John Bache (pictured above) has been elected National Chairman and Beverley Higgs and Alison Spurgeon-Dickson have been elected as Deputy Chairmen.
They will take up these roles at the MA's AGM on 18 November.
Commenting on the result, John Bache said:
"I am delighted to have been elected as National Chairman of the Magistrates Association. The MA plays an essential role as the independent voice of magistrates in England and Wales, supporting the magistracy and promoting the sound administration of the law.
"Having been a magistrate for nearly thirty years and having served the MA in national roles for a decade, I recognise the significant challenges now facing the magistracy and the justice system as a whole. These challenges, however, make the work of the MA more valuable than ever and under my chairmanship I intend to ensure that the MA is at the heart of shaping the ongoing reform agenda.
"I am very much looking forward to working with my fellow board members, the MA's staff team and the membership as a whole to continue the MA's excellent and important work."
