Wider justice system

Yesterday, a team of Magistrates' Association staff and London-based members took part in the largest fundraising event in the legal calendar to raise much-needed funds for front-line, free legal advice services.

Yesterday, a team of Magistrates’ Association (MA) staff and London-based members took part in this year’s London Legal Walk, the largest fundraising event in the legal calendar.

We joined the Lord Chief Justice and thousands others from the legal community—including judges, barristers, solicitors, students, apprentices and clerks—to raise much-needed funds for frontline, free legal advice services.

All donations raised will go to the London Legal Support Trust, which funds law centres and pro bono agencies in and around London that do a fantastic job in preventing homelessness, resolving debt problems, gaining care services, and fighting discrimination and exploitation.

Celestine Woodham, memberships and events assistant at the MA, said:

“It was a lovely afternoon to be walking in great company to support such a worth cause. We chose the park route, which enabled us to see several iconic London sights. We walked through Hyde Park, along The Serpentine, past Buckingham Palace and of course finished at The Royal Courts of Justice where there was a street party. It was a privilege to be able to walk with so many others who are committed to increasing access to free frontline services. I’m already looking forward to next year!

“Congratulations to all who took part, and a big thank you to all who sponsored the MA team. If you were not able to walk with us, but would like to contribute, please visit our fundraising page to donate to this incredibly important cause.”

We look forward to more of our members joining us next year.
