Director of Membership

We are recruiting a Director of Membership to play a leading role at an exciting time in our development. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic membership professional to have a real impact, ensuring our members are central to everything that we do.

The  Magistrates Association is the independent membership body for magistrates in England and Wales. We work to promote the sound administration of the law, including by supporting our members, informing the public about the role of magistrates, producing research on key topics relevant to the magistracy, and contributing to reforms of the courts and the broader justice system. With 15,000 members, we are the independent voice of the magistracy.

The Director of Membership will lead our work to grow our membership, driving member recruitment and ensuring retention. They will also be responsible for improving member engagement and satisfaction, leading the development of a comprehensive membership offer, strong membership communications and improved membership processes.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in a membership role and a track record of delivering membership growth and high levels of member engagement and satisfaction. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a complex and demanding workload, you will have the knowledge, skills and experience to ensure that the MA provides a high quality service to current and prospective members, securing increased member recruitment and retention.
