MA statement on Knife Crime Prevention Orders

Ahead of the Report Stage of the Offensive Weapons Bill in the House of Lords on 26 February 2019, the MA has released a statement on Knife Crime Prevention Orders.

Commenting on the introduction of Knife Crime Prevention Orders, John Bache JP, National Chair of the Magistrates Association, said:

'The government has proposed these orders without consulting the magistrates that would be using them. Without full consultation or a firm evidence base to rely on, it is impossible to know that these proposals are what is needed to deal with the current problem.'
