HM Courts and Tribunal Service and the Ministry of Justice have been reviewing the 'organisation, management and function' of advisory committees.
Sheena Jowett represented the MA on the working group which carried out initial discussion and drafted a consultation paper. The MA stance was that it might be better to delay the consultation, to allow changes to develop in line with other ongoing reforms relating to bench chairmen, local justice areas and the future modern recruitment process. We were concerned that any changes should be done concurrently, to avoid contradiction or confusion.
However, as it was agreed the consultation should go ahead, the MA has produced this response.
