Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) Appointment

The Queen has appointed Emma Louise Arbuthnot to be Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

She will based at Westminster Magistrates’ Court with effect from 5 October 2016.

Appointed deputy senior district judge (magistrates’ court) in 2012, Lady Arbuthnot of Edrom, was called to the Bar (I) in 1986, was appointed as a deputy district judge (magistrates’ courts) in 1999, as a recorder in 2002 and as a district judge (magistrates’ courts) in 2005.
