Various other minor amendments to guidelines are also being consulted on, some as the result of direct feedback from magistrates. The package follows up on motoring guidelines published last year, which covered offences like causing serious injury by careless driving, dangerous driving and drug driving.

We think you should attend this because it will be an opportunity to hear from the Sentencing Council about the proposed guidelines and the thinking behind them.

It will help you to understand what’s changing from the existing guidelines, and to provide feedback based on your own experience of sentencing these sorts of cases.

All are encouraged to contribute, either at the session itself or in writing afterwards to the consultation, which is open until 22 May.
